Carroll Residence

Laguna Beach, California

The new residence replaces the original cottage that was damaged by a fire. The program for the residence was for 3 bedrooms and baths, a formal living room and outdoor living areas. The second item was to capture the unique view of downtown Laguna and main beach from each of the primary rooms. Architurally the client requested a Spanish revival style home. The design solution begins with an elevated entry point that decesends through a manicured courtyard to the entry door. A formal entry hall and a glamorous stair which rises to the master suite, sitting room and roof terrace create the entry sequence. The hall connects the more formal living and dining areas to the outdoor spaces and gardens. A gourmet kitchen and family room are adjacent and have access to a small landscaped courtyard.
